Raging against the machine one cog at a time.
Exactly what my roomies and I (all three of us Canadians) were proclaiming last night.
YAY YAY YAY YAY YES YES YES YES
As i said to someone else recently - i hope he turns out to be everything you believe he is.After Margaret Thatcher/John Major there was a lot of hope in the UK when Tony Blair came to power that there would be a real change for the better - but the truth is that he only came to power by becoming more Thatcher than Thatcher herself. I hope Obama does better
.... ah I'm jealous ... what a leader that inspires such hope ...
I'm immensely relieved, and I'm delighted to see so much joy and hope. Still, I think the hungry pixie has a good point. While I refuse to believe he'll turn out to be another Tony Blair, I do think there's a real danger in placing unreasonable expectations on him. The mess he faces — nationally and internationally — is frightening. (If I sound lukewarm, it's not because I'm not overjoyed at his win. It's because change is likely here in Aotearoa after tomorrow's election, and unlike yours, ours is likely to head towards the Bush-Palin philosophy. Wish us luck, please.)
